One of the easiest ways to add a boost of fruity flavour to your next cocktail is to use a little jam. Running out of syrup isn’t the end of the world and everybody has some leftover preserves in the back of the fridge to use instead. Simply use some jam to add that kick of sweetness and a little extra flavour to your next cocktail. You can use anything from jams to curds or even marmalades.

Top Tips for homemade cocktails:

Chill your glasses ahead of time

Either chill them in your fridge or fill it with ice and water. By chilling the glass you help ensure the cocktail remains refreshingly cool to the very last sip.

The Golden Rule

The golden rule when it comes to cocktail making is; two parts spirit, one part sweet, and one part sour.

Taste everything

Always taste your cocktail batch before serving to your guests, just to make sure you’ve hit the right spot!

Shaken, not stirred

Only drinks containing juice, egg, or cream should be shaken. A drink containing only liquors should always be stirred (yes, that includes Martinis unless specifically requested like our Breakfast Martini recipe above).
