- Packed with sweet and spiced flavours with a delicious flaky crust.
- Ingredients:
- 1 jar of Cottage Delight British Bramley Apple Sauce
- 2 Bramley apples; peeled, cored, diced
- 2tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 whole lemon zested
- 2tsp fresh lemon juice
- 100g caster sugar
- 75g raisins
- 95g unsalted butter
- 40g white breadcrumbs
- 6 large sheets filo pastry
- 1tbsp icing sugar
Cooking Method
Preheat the oven to 190°C/170°C Fan/Gas Mark 5.
Mix the Bramley Apple Sauce with the diced apples, cinnamon, lemon zest and juice, sugar and raisins.
In a small frying pan, melt 20g of butter and fry the breadcrumbs until golden-brown, then add to the apple mixture.
Melt the remaining butter in the now empty pan. On a piece of parchment paper lay a sheet of filo pastry and brush with the melted butter. Lay another sheet on top and repeat until you have used all the filo pastry.
Spread the apple mixture evenly down the centre of the pastry, length-ways.
Cut 2 cm strips into the pastry on each longest side. Fold these strips over the apple mixture, overlapping slightly. See picture for guidance.
You can use any excess melted butter to help the strips of pastry stick to one another.
Transfer apple strudel to lined baking tray.
Bake for approximately 35 minutes until golden-brown.
Remove from the oven, dust with icing sugar, serve and enjoy!
