9 farm shops that are well worth the trip
There’s something quintessentially British about farm shops and it’s safe to say that as a nation we love nothing more than making a special trip to our local to take in the best that the countryside has to offer. From freshly picked fruits and vegetables to a carefully curated selections of cheeses, meats and baked goodies, there’s something for all the family to enjoy.
At many farm shops you’ll find lots of other things going on too, like cafes or playgrounds for little ones, and naturally you can enjoy Cottage Delight goodies from all of the ones featured here.

Loch Leven’s Larder
Opened in 2005, with stunning views and walks around Loch Leven and Kinross, Loch Leven’s Larder is a beautifully situated farm shop dedicated to celebrating the finest in local produce, artisanal craftsmanship, and honest, farm-fresh foods. These include pastries, pates, quiches and freshly prepared salads, luxury sausage rolls, and a wide range of delectable locally sourced meats.
They also organise events based around the shop including evening markets, autumnal decorative wreath making, a Christmas supper night and Christmas Bingo Night.

Denstone Hall Farm Shop
Denstone Hall Farm Shop opened in 2007 in what used to be the old milking parlour, then converted into a farm shop and café with the help of a rural enterprise grant from DEFRA.
Enjoy delicious local produce, fresh meats from their own butchery, and a self-serve fridge offering their own homemade ready meals. The delicatessen counter sells homemade pies, pasties, a range of local cheeses, together with speciality groceries, local ice creams and frozen ready meals.

The Hollies
Beginning in 1959 as a roadside vegetable stand, The Hollies has grown to become one of the best farm shops in the Northwest, even attracting influencers like Molly-Mae Hague in more recent years.
Brimming with produce from over 70 local suppliers, together with the finest goods from the local region, the UK and the world, The Hollies are a food lover’s heaven with more than 70 local suppliers, market fresh fruit and vegetables, daily baked bread, a butchery counter, a Deli, their own Hollies homemade range and much more.

Oakchurch Farm Shop
A wonderful farm shop that started as a pick your own’ strawberry farm with a wooden shed on the side of the road in 1970, this is now part of a much bigger premises offering the best of Herefordshire food and drink producers.
With an in-house butchery, fresh fruit and veg in the food hall, soft fruits picked daily in the Oakchurch Farm, and of course their own strawberries, they even make their own gelato ice creams and sorbets using local ingredients.

Cotswold Farm Park
More than just a farm shop, Cotswold Farm Park offers the chance to get up close and personal with the animals and provides a great day out for the whole family where you can meet 50+ rare breeds of British farm animals and meander through woodland before heading to discovery barn to watch chicks hatch.
In The Ox Shed at Cotswold Farm Park is a tantalising range of rare breed meats, Adam Henson’s Cotswold Honey, fresh eggs from the farm’s own rare breed chickens and ducks, locally brewed beers and artisan spirits, and even children’s fashion, country homewares, woollen homewares and country fashion.

Bury Lane
Discover an amazing range of food and drink under one roof at Bury Lane as you work your way around to find British artisan cheeses, handmade savoury snacks, indulgent cakes and freshly bakes bread in the deli. Choose fresh local produce from the traditional butchers and fishmongers, high quality seasonal and local produce including home grown asparagus from April to June and sweet strawberries from mid-June.
You can also enjoy a day picking your own fresh fruit and flowers – peonies, strawberries, pumpkins, tulips and even sunflowers.

Garsons
Beginning as a mixed farm in 1871, this family run business now encompasses the best local and artisan produce from across Surrey, Hampshire and far beyond. Garsons two farm shops, at Esher and Titchfield, are veritable treasure troves where dedicated lovers of fine food and drink can indulge their taste for award winning meats, fish, fruit and veg, bakery specialities, a huge range of tempting deli treats, fresh foods and garden centre shopping.

Pugh’s
What began as a family run garden centre has blossomed to become Pugh’s Garden Village, winning Garden Centre of the Year 2023.
It offers a unique shopping experience providing local communities with great quality foods which have been carefully sourced, often from other local Welsh business. Here you’ll find shelves full of fresh fruit and vegetables, eggs, high-end frozen meals, milk, bread, cupboard essentials, a fresh deli counter, patisserie and takeaway drinks, plus Farmers Pantry butchers offering a wide selection of produce.

Cannon Hall Farm Shop
Billed as Yorkshire’s favourite family attraction, the farm has meerkats, pigs, reptiles, llamas and other animals, besides an indoor soft play and outdoor adventure playground, besides showing animal activities on Cannon Hall Farm TV.
This is also a place where great food is taken seriously. Cannon Hall Farm produce beef, pork and lamb, sausages, bacon and their own bakes goods and award-winning pies, together with fruit and vegetables sourced as locally as possible when in season.
