Toad in the Hole with Wholegrain Mustard

A warm and filling family favourite. Perfect on a cold Winters day. The delicious addition of English Wholegrain Mustard adds an extra depth of flavour to the batter.


  • 8 good quality sausages
  • 4 oz of plain flour
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Half a pint of milk
  • 2tsp of English Wholegrain Mustard
  • 1 red onion sliced

  1. Preheat oven to 220C/425F gas mark 7.
  2. Lightly grease a 10x12 inch roasting tin.
  3. Add the sliced red onion with sausages, put in the oven for 15 minutes.
  4. Combine the flour, salt, egg, milk and English Wholegrain Mustard
  5. Add the batter to the sausages and cook for a further 35/45 minutes until well risen and golden.
  6. Serve at once with freshly steamed vegetables.
