- 600g lean mince beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2tsp smoked paprika
- 1tsp ground cumin
- 1tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 350ml bottle dark beer
- 1/2tsp fresh ground black pepper
- 2tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 6 seeded buns
- 6 slices of Cheddar cheese
- 6 tbsp British Beer Barbecue Sauce
Cooking Method
Warm a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add butter and onion to pan. Sprinkle with sugar. Stir occasionally until onions start to brown, approximately 6 minutes.
Preheat grill to medium or medium-high.
Combine beef, garlic, paprika, cumin, Worcestershire sauce and half of your beer in a large mixing bowl. Mix to combine. Portion beef mixture into six burgers. Set aside.
Pour remaining beer into pan with onions. Stir then cover and cook for 15 minutes, or until beer evaporates.
Brush burgers with olive oil and lightly sprinkle them with salt.
Place burgers on grill and cook for 5 minutes. Flip, brush with British Beer Barbecue Sauce and grill for 5 minutes on the other side, until cooked through. Toast buns on grill then add cooked burgers, cheese, caramelised onion and top with British Beer Barbecue Sauce.
